Summary

Women benefit from a consistent, continuing relationship with the caregivers during the pregnancy and childbearing process.  Midwives and all health professionals involved in maternity services should give confidence to women’s ability and desire to give birth through the normal path without fear. The present study assess the personal relationships between pregnant women and health care professionals and presents preliminary findings on the impact of this relationship on women’s fear of childbirth.
