Summary

This research focuses on the risk assessment of exposure of workers to carbon  monoxide, when using grills in health-regulated establishments. At first, there is a small theoretical research on carbon monoxide, in terms of its structure, its sources and its effects on human health and the environment. Furthermore, there is an analysis of employees who handle the grills, which is our main focus in this re- search. Bronchitis is also analyzed, which is a main point of progress to this research, due to its correlation with carbon monoxide exposure. Moreover, the statisti- cally analyzed results of the research, that was con- ducted on the health-regulated establishments, in the Attica’s municipalities of Aigaleo and Peristeri, using a questionnaire, are also presented in the form of tables and diagrams. According to these results, most em- ployees that develop chronic bronchitis, are habitual smokers, who handle grills that burn synthetic charcoal.
