Περίληψη – Summary

In order to examine the use and the misuse of antibiotics in students at the University of Patras, that leads to development of antimicrobial re- sistance, we developed a 32 – items question- naire with open and close questions. A pilot testing of this questionnaire was performed by 10 students its validity. We informed them that the participation was voluntary and anonymous. For the statistical analysis was used the statistical package IBM SPSS, edition for Windows. The results of our research showed that the majority (92,3%) had received antibiotics at least once as therapy. In a question about the misuse of antibi- otics the 57,2% of students answered that they provide themselves with antibiotics from the pharmacy or home in case of traveling.

There are, also, many students (47,2%) who declare that they had received antibiotics during the last 12 months. In addition, the 60,6% holds residues of antibiotics at home. Finally, the 65,6% of the students have interrupted the therapy when the symptoms stopped. The antibiotics most often used were Augmentin (62%) and Amoxil (45%).
