Περίληψη – Summary

Vitamin D plays a significant role in many systems of human body. The main source of vitamin D is the endogenous dermal synthesis. The majority of observational studies in humans indicate that vitamin D deficiency is associated with type 1 dia- betes. Vitamin D levels are lower in obese people with type 2 diabetes. Low levels of 25(OH)D in the serum are thought to increase the risk of CVD via many paths. In this study according the literature, we describe the role of vitamin D οn diabetes mellitus and cardiovascu- lar diseases.
