Summary | Neoglycoproteins are artificial analogs of natural glycoproteins produced by chemical synthetic procedures implying the covalent binding of mono- or oligosaccharides to proteins. The current synthetic strategies of coupling sugars to proteins will be reviewed as well as the influence of the structure of the carbohydrate moiety on the interaction with specific receptors. Finally some interesting uses of neoglycoproteins for the diagnosis or the prevention of diseases will be covered. | |
