Keywords | Organic colorants, lipsticks, genotoxicity and photogenotoxicity of xanthenes, antitumor promoting activity of xanthenes colorants.
Other Terms | review article
Summary | This paper examines the chemical structures, properties and the undesirable effects of the most common organic colorants used in lipsticks, namely azodyes, xanthene, triarylmethane and quinoline derivatives. The genotoxicity and photogenotoxicity of xanthenes are also examined. The in vitro and in vivo antitumor promoting activity of some xanthene derivatives is described.
