| Summary | The innate immune system of insects relies on both humoral and cellular immune responses. Insect hemocytes responsible for cellular defense responses recognize a variety of foreign targets. Med-fly hemocytes are sensitive to LPS and respond by activating several intracellular signaling pathways leading in morphological alterations, regulated release of bioactive molecules, LPS endocytosis and E. coli phagocytosis. | |
