Summary The effect of medicines and cosmetics on people showing acne has been studied by many researchers. The application of AHA either as such or in the form of inclusion complexes, which ensures controlled release of glycolic acid, constitutes certainly a novelty. Sebum secretion in people with comedonal acne and cosmetic acne – two kinds of acne vulgaris – considerably decreased following application of cosmetics containing β-cyclodextrins. This paper examines in vivo changes in sebum secretion on the skin of volunteers after application of cosmetic products containing (β-cyclodextrin, records the results and proceeds to their statistical analysis. Sebum plays a role in the overall pathogenesis of the disease because sebum is comedogenic, causes inflammation when injected into skin, and acne can be controlled by factors which inhibit sebaceous glands.
