Περίληψη – Summary

Στις μέρες μας η μουσική χρησιμοποιείται ως συμπληρωματικό θεραπευτικό μέσο σε πολλούς τομείς της Ιατρικής, στην Ψυχολογία και στις Νευροεπιστήμες. Φαίνεται πως η ακρόαση μουσικής αποτελεί τη βέλτιστη επιλογή για χώρους αναμονής και περίθαλψης ασθενών, καθώς συγκεκριμένα ηχητικά ερεθίσματα δύνανται να τροποποιήσουν την αντίληψη του πόνου και να επιφέρουν χαλάρωση ή εγρήγορση, ανάλογα με τις ανάγκες των ασθενών. Η χρήση κατάλληλα επιλεγμένης μουσικής και νανουρισμάτων στις μονάδες εντατικής φροντίδας νεογνών διαπιστώνεται πως συμβάλλει θετικά στην ταχύτερη ανάρρωσή των προώρων νεογνών. Ο ρυθμός αύξησης του βάρους τους είναι μεγαλύτερος, ενώ οι φυσιολογικές παράμετροι (κορεσμός αιμοσφαιρίνης σε οξυγόνο, σφύξεις, αναπνοές, αρτηριακή πίεση, κλπ.) κατά τη νοσηλεία τους σταθεροποιούνται εντός φυσιολογικών ορίων με τη βοήθεια της μουσικής ως θεραπευτικού μέσου. Γενικά τα νεογνά φαίνεται πως αυξάνουν ταχύτερα το βάρος τους και κλαίνε λιγότερο όταν εκτίθενται σε ακουστικά ερεθίσματα με ρυθμό παρόμοιο με τον καρδιακό ρυθμό της μητέρας τους. Όσον αφορά στο ρόλο της μουσικής κατά τη λοχεία, φαίνεται πως είναι ικανή να ενισχύσει την επικοινωνία ανάμεσα στους νέους γονείς και τα βρέφη τους, με αποτέλεσμα τη σύσφιξη των οικογενειακών δεσμών. Επιπλέον οι θηλάζουσες μητέρες χαλαρώνουν και τα μωρά τους θηλάζουν καλύτερα, ιδιαίτερα αν η μουσική αποτελούσε μέρος της καθημερινότητας των εγκύων προγεννητικά.

Nowadays music is used as a complementary therapeutic tool in various fields of Medicine, Psychology and Neurosciences. Listening to music seems to be the best choice for patients’ waiting rooms and hospitals, while specific sound stimuli are able to modify pain perception and relaxation or alertness, depending on the patients’ needs. Using suitably selected music and vocal lullabies in newborn intensive care units contributes to premature infants’ faster recovery. Their weight gain rate is increased, while their physiologic parameters (oxygen blood saturation, heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, etc.) are stabilised between normal limits when music is used as a conditioning aid. Furthermore, all newborns are likely to gain weight faster and cry less when exposed to sound stimuli which have similar tempo to their mother’s heart beat. As far as music’s role through the postpartum period is concerned, it appears that it is capable to strengthen communication between new parents and their newborns, helping with family bonding. Moreover breastfeeding mothers relax and their newborns are better fed, especially if listening to music used to be a part of mothers-to-be everyday routine prenatally.
