Περίληψη – Summary

Η συχνότητα εμφάνισης της καρδιακής ανεπάρκειας βαίνει παράλληλα προς την ηλικία και είναι υψηλότερη στα άτομα της τρίτης ηλικίας (>65 χρόνων). Η ηλικία ασκεί αρνητική επίδραση στην πρόγνωση της πάθησης, η οποία γενικώς είναι βαριά. Η διάγνωση στην οικία του ασθενούς από την κλινική και μόνον εξέταση είναι επισφαλής, ενώ η φαρμακευτική αντιμετώπισή της δεν διαφέρει εκείνης των ατόμων των νεότερων ηλικιών.

The incidence of heart failure goes in parallel with increasing age and in higher in elderly (> 65 year old). Age has a negative impact in the prog­nosis which is generally poor. The diagnosis at home based just on clinical examination is difficult, medical treatment is similar to the treatment of younger pa­tients.
