Περίληψη – Summary

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble chemical substance that plays a significant role in many systems of human body. More specifically, contributes in regulation of calcium and phosphate ions homeostasis in human’s bloodstream in cooperation with Parathormone ( PTH ). The significant role of vitamin D relies on the regulation of calcium and phosphate ions concentration in bloodstream. Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphate ions and zinc by intestine. In this study we describe the structure, the synthesis and the role of vitamin D in many systems of human body.
