Summary Chemical peeling is also called chemical resurfacing, chemexfoliation, or chemosurgery. The process involves the application of one or more exfoliating agents to the skin, resulting in the destruction of portions of the epidermis or dermis with subsequent regeneration. These application techniques produce a controlled wound and reepithelialization. They can be used alone or in combination, depending on the depth of the exfoliation we wish to achieve and on the kind of problem we wish to manage. They are easily applied and they consist an inexpensive tool for effective chemical resurfarcing of the skin in order to resolve esthetic problems that have appeared following different skin diseases such as acne or following skin damages such as pigmentary dischromias, actinic keratoses, and photoaging.
