Summary Objective of the study was to examine the levels of musculoskeletal pain in newly established physical therapists in Greece and research the risk factors. The sample consisted of physical therapists with a working life ranging from one to six years and comprised 13.23% of the total of 1065. A three-page questionnaire consisting of close-ended questions was used. The collection of data was carried out by personal interviews using the PAPI method. 95% of the subjects reported pain in at least one point of the musculoskeletal system during the previous year, with the most frequently reported sites being the lower back, neck and shoulders, and wrists, hands and knees. There is a high percentage of work related musculoskeletal discomfort in newly established physical therapists in Greece. Purely biomechanical factors, but also psychosocial factors, appear to be associated with the appearance of these. The holistic preventative approach could be a valuable tool in tracing such work related musculoskeletal disorders.
