Summary | In this paper it is described 1 case of hepatotoxicity in a 65 year-old white woman patient who had recently taken telithromycin for sinusitis. The patient was admitted to the hospital because of anorexia fatigue and fever. In our case the patient had no history of alcohol use or any other concomitant liver disease. A liver biopsy was per- formed and the histologic findings were as follow: alterations compatible to acute hepatitis, with advanced necrosis. The presence of eosinophils and the absence of significant portal inflammation is a sign of pharmaceutical hepatitis. The medications that the patient was taking (A-MEA and multivitamins) hadn’t cause to her any adverse effect from the beginning of their use. The withdrawal of Telithromycin led to the clinical improvement of the patient. The patient after a few days recovered. | |
