| Summary | Iron overload has been implicated in the pathogenesis of ischemic cardiovascular events. However, the effects of iron excess on systemic function are not well understood. We examined the effects of chronic iron (FeSO4) administration (10 % water solution over 14 days) on thrombosis, systemic oxidative stress and on plasma clotting in rats. Iron loading enhanced systemic reactive oxygen species production. | ||
