The establishment of obesity during menopause is a clinical phenomenon which is due primarily, to the differentiation and sustaining of androgens over estrogens. This type of obesity contributes the most to the establishment of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is related to the diabetes mellitus type II, to the cardiovascular diseases and to cancer, with the most prominent example that of breast cancer. The investigation of some genetic factors leads to certain genes that orchestrate the homeostasis of the human organism, specifically that of nervous system. The paradigm of breast cancer states the necessary presence of estrogens so to avoid this type of cancer. The occurrence of obesity during menopause is an important contributing factor to disease in this group of population.
