In the Part I of the present reviewing article, the multiform and multidimentional, but always ill-favored-consequences of the cigarette smoking, were discussed. After a brief report, on the one hand, of the historical relation developed between Nicotiana tabacum L. and the interna­tional civilized community, especially between the use of the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum L., and the smokers, and on the other hand the descrip­tion of the phyto-chemical characteristics of the plant, the physicochemical properties and con­stants, the toxicological properties and the uses of its principal natural constituent Nicotine [CAS 54-11-5] and the coexisted alkaloids Nor-nicotine [CAS 494-97-3] and Anabasine [CAS 494-52-0] are given. Further to the quotation of ten papers, selected by the present author, which were de­veloped in different notworthy Heart and Vascular Institutes and published within the period 1990-1996, ref­ered to the noxious role of the cigarette smoking on various severe cardiovascular dis­eases, such as: the sudden death, the myocardial infarction, the coronary spasm and the vasospas­tic angina, the atherosclerosis etc. was de­scribed.
