Περίληψη – Summary
|
Recent molecular genetic studies such as linkage studies and association studies search for schizophrenia susceptibility genes. Although these studies have identified several potential factors, they have until now, been unable to demonstrate the genes responsible for schizophrenia. On the other hand, twin, family and adoption studies have provided strong evidence for the role of genetic factors in schizophrenia. Additionally, they have shown that environmental factors have an important role in the origin of schizophrenia. The search for genes predisposing to schizophrenia and the mode of inheritance constitute the many challenges facing scientist, who undertake schizophrenia genetics research. |
