Introduction: A healthy, varied maternal diet is beneficial for the health and well-being of mother and infant. Pregnant women should focus on diet quality and be encouraged to choose nutrient-dense foods high in important vitamins and minerals. Purpose: The aim of this research was to investigate whether the nutritional status of a woman affects her health, but also the results of pregnancy and the health of her fetus-newborn. Material and Method: For this purpose, a systematic bibliographic review was carried out in the Google Scholar and PubMed databases, for research conducted after 2012. A total of 210 researches were recorded, of which 15 met the eligibility criteria. Results: The data extracted from the 15 studies concluded that the diet of pregnant women affects to a very large extent the health of both pregnant women and fetuses, as well as women after their pregnancy. In addition, the way of life and diet of women before their pregnancy is an inhibiting factor influencing the progress of women’s pregnancy. |
