Η τοκοφοβία είναι μια διαταραχή έντονου φοβικού άγχους ως προς τον τοκετό, η οποία προκαλεί προβλήματα τόσο στις γυναίκες όσο και στα έμβρυα που εκείνες κυοφορούν, επηρεάζοντας και τον τρόπο τοκετού. H αιτιολογία της είναι πολυπαραγοντική και σε μικρότερο ποσοστό μπορεί να εμφανισθεί και στους άντρες. Σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας είναι να αναζητηθούν και να παρουσιαστούν όλες οι μελέτες που διερευνούν την προδιάθεση τοκοφοβίας σε πληθυσμούς φοιτητών και έχουν δημοσιευτεί τα τελευταία 20 χρόνια.
Μέθοδος: Χρησιμοποιήθηκε η μέθοδος της συστηματικής ανασκόπησης. Εγινε αξιολόγηση του πλήρους κειμένου σε 21 τελικά άρθρα και μόνο 10 πληρούσαν τα κριτήρια ένταξης στην παρούσα συστηματική ανασκόπηση όπως είχαν καθοριστεί.
Αποτελέσματα: Ο επιπολασμός της τοκοφοβίας στους φοιτητές κυμαίνεται από 17,4% στις ΗΠΑ ως 39,4% στην Αγγλία και παρουσιάζει σημαντικές διακυμάνσεις ανάλογα με τη χώρα προέλευσης.
Συμπεράσματα: Οι πηγές πληροφόρησης για την εγκυμοσύνη και τον τοκετό φάνηκε να επιδρούν στην εμφάνιση τοκοφοβίας,με τα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης και τις αρνητικές ιστορίες τοκετού από συγγενείς και φίλους να επηρεάζουν αρνητικά τους φοιτητές. Τέλος, σημαντική ήταν η συσχέτιση της τοκοφοβίας με την επιθυμία για επισκληρίδιο αναισθησία και Κ.Τ. καθώς και με την γενικότερη χρήση μαιευτικής τεχνολογίας και παρεμβάσεων.

Tokophobia is a multifactorial, intense phobic anx-iety disorder related to childbirth, that causes prob-lems for both women and fetuses and affects the delivery. To a lesser extent, it can also appear in men. The purpose of this study is to seek and pre-sent all the studies that investigate tocophobia in student populations and have been published in the last 20 years.
Methods: The research method used, is the sys-tematic review. Of the total number of 21 articles retrieved, 10 of them were suitable for this review.
Results: The prevalence of tocophobia in students ranges from 17.4% in the US to 39,4% in the UK. According to the research, it seems that to-cophobia in students varies significantly depend-ing on the country of origin.
Conclusion: Sources of information about preg-nancy and childbirth seemed to influence the emergence of tokophobia, with the media and neg-ative birth stories from relatives and friends nega-tively affecting students. Τhe correlation of to-cophobia with the desire for epidural anesthesia and caesarean section was important as well as with general use of obstetric technology and inter-ventions.
