Περίληψη – Summary
|
The benefits of dietary intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids have been studied since 1953. Since then, various studies indicated PUFA as a key component of a healthy, balanced diet. The intake of omega-3 fatty acids has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disorders. Their use is considered important as part of the adjuvant therapy of inflammatory diseases and psychiatric disorders. However, their extreme intake poses the risk of enhanced bleeding tendency. Moreover, studies highlight the importance of the proper ratio of omega-6:omega-3 fatty acids in the diet, as overconsumption of omega-6 predisposes to thrombosis and inflammation. Omega-9 fatty acids are not included in the category of essential fatty acids. Finally, further research is directed in the field of crop and livestock production. The main objective is the commercialization of products that contribute to proper dietary intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids. |
