Περίληψη – Summary	Η εντατική φροντίδα και θεραπεία παρέχεται στα εξαιρετικώς/πολύ πρόωρα ή/και πάσχοντα νεογνά των οποίων η ζωή βρίσκεται σε άμεσο κίνδυνο λόγω της παθολογικής τους κατάστασης. Η ανάγκη για μηχανική υποστήριξη της λειτουργίας ζωτικών οργάνων, η εντατικοποίηση της παρεχόμενης φροντίδας και η απαίτηση για συχνή χρήση αναλγητικής και αναισθητικής φαρμακευτικής αγωγής αποτελούν καθημερινές παρεμβάσεις στα νοσηλευόμενα νεογνά στη μονάδα εντατικής. Στο άρθρο αναλύονται όλες εκείνες οι καταστάσεις που συνηγορούν υπέρ του χαρακτηρισμού της εντατικής νεογνικής φροντίδας ως πολύπλοκής και παρεμβατικής. Intensive care and treatment are provided to extremely/very premature and/or sick neonates whose life is in immediate danger due to their pathological condition. The need for mechanical support for the functioning of vital organs, the intensification of provided care and the requirement for frequent use of analgesic and anesthetic medication are daily interventions for neonates in the Intensive Care Unit. The article analyzes all those conditions that advocate for the characterization of intensive neonatal care as complex and invasive.
