Περίληψη – Summary

Ο μετεγχειρητικός πόνος είναι οξύς και αναμενόμενος και συναντάται στο 80% των περιπτώσεων. Αυτός δεν εξυπηρετεί καμία προστατευτική λειτουργία, για αυτό η ανακούφισή του αποτελεί βασική αρχή/στόχο της Ιατρικής. Έχει αποδειχθεί ότι η αποτελεσματική αναλγησία ελαττώνει τις μετεγχειρητικές επιπλοκές τόσο βραχυπρόθεσμα, όσο μακροπρόθεσμα. Υπάρχει αυξανόμενο ενδιαφέρον και έρευνα σχετικά με το ρόλο των μη φαρμακευτικών παρεμβάσεων στο μετεγχειρητικό πόνο. Οι συμπληρωματικές/εναλλακτικές θεραπείες είναι γνωστές, εκτός των άλλων, για την αγχολυτική τους δράση. Ο συνδυασμός φαρμακευτικής αγωγής και συμπληρωματικών/εναλλακτικών θεραπειών φαίνεται ότι αυξάνει το αναλγητικό αποτέλεσμα. Στην περίπτωση του μετεγχειρητικού πόνου, οι παρεμβάσεις αυτές πρέπει να χρησιμοποιούνται συμπληρωματικά, δηλαδή παράλληλα με τη φαρμακευτική αγωγή. Σε πολλές ανεπτυγμένες χώρες το 30%-70% του πληθυσμού έχει χρησιμοποιήσει κάποια μορφή εναλλακτικής ή συμπληρωματικής θεραπείας. Οι συμπληρωματικές θεραπείες που χρησιμοποιούνται συχνότερα στο μετεγχειρητικό πόνο είναι ο βελονισμός, η ομοιοπαθητική, η αρωματοθεραπεία, η ρεφλεξολογία, το θεραπευτικό άγγιγμα, το μασάζ, οι Τεχνικές χαλάρωσης και η Μουσικοθεραπεία. Σήμερα δεν υπάρχει πλήρως μελετημένο και ερευνητικά τεκμηριωμένο πλαίσιο για την αποτελεσματικότητα των συμπληρωματικών/εναλλακτικών θεραπειών και επισημαίνεται η ανάγκη περαιτέρω ερευνών στο πεδίο αυτό.

Postoperative pain is acute and expected. It does not serve any protective function and this is why relieving this type of pain constitutes a basic principle/aim of medicine. It has been shown that effective analgesia lessens postoperative complications both shorterm and longterm. There is increasing interest and research in the role of non-pharmacological interventions in postoperative pain. Alternative/complementary therapies are known,among other uses for their anxiolytic action.The combination of medication and complementary therapies seems to increase the analgesic effect. These interventions must be used in a complementary manner i.e. in conjunction with the prescribed medication. In many Western countries 30%-70% have tried some form of alternative/comple-mentary medicine. The most commonly used comple-mentary therapies for postoperative pain relief are acupuncture,homeopathy, aromatherapy, reflexology, thepeutic touch, massage, relaxation techniques and music therapy. There is no fully researched and scientifically proven framework on the efficacy of comple-mentary/alternative therapies and further study of this field is needed.
