| Περίληψη – Summary | Η χημειοθεραπεία και η ακτινοθεραπεία καρκίνων περιοχής λαιμού-κεφαλής προκαλούν στοματολογικές και οδοντικές επιπλοκές, όπως μεταβολές στο σίελο, ξηρότητα του στόματος, φλεγμονές του στοματικού βλεννογόνου, τερηδόνα της ακτινοβολίας, μεταβολές στο παροδόντιο, στοματίτιδα, θρομβοκυττοπενία, λευκοπενία, διάσπαρτη ενδοσγγειακή θρόμβωση, σοβαρές λοιμώξεις (έρπηςχειλιών και στόματος, καντιδίαση, ασπεργίλλωση, ευρωμυκητίαση), όπως ακόμη μεταβολές στην αγγείωση και ανάπτυξη δοντιών και γνάθων. Οι γιατροί και οδοντίατροι πρέπει να γνωρίζουν τις επιπλοκές αυτές ώστε να είναι σε θέση να πάρουν προληπτικά – κατασταλτικά μέτρα υγιεινής του στόματος (πλύσεις στόματος, βούρτσισμα με την τεχνική Bass, φθορίωση) και να επιλέξουν την κατάλληλη θεραπευτική αγωγή (μεταγγίσεις αιμοπεταλίων και πλήρους αίματος, χορήγηση αντιβιοτικών και βιταμινών). Αλλά κυρίως απαιτείται στενή συνεργασία μεταξύ γιατρών-οδοντιάτρων-νοσηλευτικού προσωπικού και ασθενή. | |
