Περίληψη – Summary

Η ιπποθεραπεία αποτελεί µια αναπτυσσόµενη µορφή θεραπείας στην οποία χρησιµοποιείται η κίνηση του αλόγου ως µέρος ενός ολοκληρωµένου θε– ραπευτικού προγράµµατος για τη βελτίωση της λειτουργικής ικανότητας του ατόµου. Έρευνες αναφέρουν την αποτελεσµατική δράση της ιπποθεραπείας σε παιδιά µε εγκεφαλική παράλυση (ΕΠ). Συγκεκριµένα, τα αποτελέσµατα της παρούσας ανασκόπησης ερευνών υποστηρίζουν ότι η θεραπευτική ιππασία (α) βελτιώνει την πραγµατοποίηση καθηµερινών δραστηριοτήτων, (β) προάγει την αυτοεξυπηρέτησή και (γ) βελτιώνει την ποιότητα  ζωής των παιδιών µε ΕΠ. Μελλοντικές έρευνες απαιτείται να πραγµατοποιηθούν για την επιβεβαίωση της θετικής επίδρασης της ιπποθεραπείας στα παιδιά µε   ΕΠ.

Therapeutic riding is a physical treatment strategy with the help of horses and refers to the use of horse’s movement as a treatment tool for children with cerebral palsy (CP). According to the literature review hippotherapy is a promising intervention having physical and psychological benefits for children with Cerebral Palsy. Therapeutic riding improves children’s daily activities, their independence and, in general, a better quality of life has been attained. However, future re- search should be confirmed the positive effects of therapeutic riding on children with Cerebral Palsy.
